It's broken

The ground that is...

View from the road down.  The footing that has been filled with concrete is the front of the house, the footing is bigger then usual as it will be a retaining wall.  When you see the photo looking back up to the road you can see what has to be retained.

This was taken from the trees looking back to our neighbours (good as gold!), the size of the footing can be seen here.  The foreground where the footing starts will also be the external wall for Caitlins bedroom (downstairs) and the snug (upstairs).

This is why we need a retaining wall...

And the first bathroom has been fitted.

Chicken and egg

Now we have started the build Saturdays have taken on a new dimension.  Tiles, bathrooms, fires, knobs, doors, toilets, wood floor, and so on and so on.

The bit we are struggling with is there is nothing to latch on to.  That is to say, we meet a kitchen designer and cannot give him what materials/colours we have used elsewhere because we haven't chosen any.

Does that mean everything else is based off what we choose for the kitchen?

We are stuck in a loop and need to break it.  If the kitchen designer cannot break the circular thinking we are currently stuck in I am going to buy a toaster, everything else in the house can will have to match that.

Not an April fool

We have broke the ground and have photographic evidence to prove it.  I think the guy in the digger was slightly perturbed as I turned up, took some photos and then shot off to call Rhian.

Photos from the road side.
